How To Launch Terraria

broken image

Terraria won't launch I'm having a problem where I go to load Terraria and it just doesn't want to start. It appears in my task manager when I go to run it, only for about 10 seconds before disappearing, it doesn't even show up in my taskbar so there's something preventing it from even opening. On the main page, click on Multiplayer and click on Start Server. After selecting a world (or creating one) it will ask for a password. This is to make your game secure from outsiders.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • A mod is generally built to customize a particular version of Terraria, and can cause issues when used with other versions.
  • Multiple mod installations can also cause conflicts. Severe conflicts may prevent creating new worlds.
  • As mods are not officially tested or endorsed, they are not guaranteed to be reliable. tModLoader players may be advised to back up their saved game data (My Games/Terraria/ModLoader folder), as well as their tModLoader installation (Program Files/steam/SteamApps/common folder with 64 bit, Program Files (x86)/steam/SteamApps/common folder with 32 bit) before attempting a mod installation. It is possible that saved game data becomes deleted or corrupted when installing mods.

How to Fix Terraria 1.4 if It's Refusing to Launch or If You're Stuck In 1.3.5.3

Note: If you are using tModLoader from a previous version, do this.
If your game is still launching Terraria 1.3.5.3, or just refuses to launch at all, then try this:
  • Step 1: Right click on Terraria, hold your cursor over manage, then hit 'Browse Files'
  • Step 2: Select everything in there, and delete it.
  • Step 3: Hit Play on steam, it'll give you an error message and then prompt you to re-download Terraria
  • Step 4: Re-Download Terraria.
  • Step 5: Play!

That's the most basic method to fix Terraria if it refuses to load or if you're stuck in 1.3.5.3
If you want to re-download tModLoader, get the DLC in the Terraria shop.
